"How to be a Lot Happier"

Hello everyone! Life had been amazing this past couple days. Not even kidding. The rowing team had our first regatta of the season, and it was AMAZING! My boat got gold btw. I am super proud of all the girls in my boat like woah!

Also, fall break was this past week and it was just nice to have time to relax and sleep a little more than 5 hours a night.

Here are a couple small things you can do daily to give your life a happy boost!

Eat with others and engage in the conversation
I like having ladies dinner nights or study buddy brunches at least once a week. This are always fun and keep me out of the boring class-study-sleep routine.

Additionally, I looove having dinner with my amazing boyfriend (duuuh). Sometimes we go out and sometimes we just try a delicious recipe I found on Pinterest. Also, it had become part of the routine me asking "What was your favorite part of the day"

This not only let you share the good things in your day, but also allows you to be mindful of at least one thing you should be grateful for.

Eat chocolate
Real, non sugar loaded dark chocolate is always good for you and your soul. Also, it is scientifically proven that it boosts your mood.

Biology 101: There are a little too many chemicals in chocolate that affect, in an amazing way, the brain. There is Phenylethylamine aka "the love drug" which makes your heart race and increase your level of excitement.

So, the next time you are having a chocolate milkshake or chocolate cupcakes remember, they are good for you!

Read a new book
If you are just like me, there are not many things that will make you happier than getting your hands in a new book.

There is something about immersing in a new story that just makes my heart sing.

I am taking an American Literature class this semester, so I am constantly reading new books, short stories, and poems. It's amazing!

Also, I am patiently waiting for my copy of "Turtles All the Way Down" aka the new John Green book. You should get it too!

Get Moving
You all know I am a sucker for working out but same as chocolate. It is a scientific fact!

If not ask Elle Woods "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t." I looove this movie a little too much...

And hey, if you are trying to start but don't know where, I got you:
Back and Biceps Workout
Leg Day Routine

Start a New Hobby
Don't know what to do? Write a list of thigs that you had always wanted to try, choose one, and commit for at least 6 months.

It will change your life!

I decided to do rowing in January, and here I am, 9 months later. My life took a 180 degrees turn. I have amazing friends/teammates, I am healthy and in shape, I am able to do things I never thought possible. And that, my friend, is a pretty damn great feeling.

Sleep
This is something my amazing boyfriend would say, he loooves to sleep. Me, not so much.

But oh my, if I am ever stressed or mad or whatever I take a nap and BOOM, back to normal happy me!

I am guilty of late night study sessions, but I never ever pull an all-nighter. They usually just make you cranky and puffy. And I don't know about you, but that is not my definition of happy.

Find Your Happy Place
This is one of the most underestimated tips and it is actually pretty simple.

What place makes you happy? Makes you feel in peace? Makes your soul full even when everything goes wrong?

I have a couple happy places here and there. The last story in the library has a table by the window, such a pretty view. I guess you can consider the lake where I row another happy place. And, if these to fail, probably laying on a bench soaking up some vitamin D.

Pro Tip: Make your room pretty. Have flowers and decor that you love.

Don't forget to pin it :)
